We had a fantastic week celebrating Halloween. It all started 2 weeks ago where the students had to plan this celebration. The school and the teacher hardly got involved. This was a project planned and carried out by Shayma and her team. The school took a step back and just help them with their plans. I must admit this was an excellent project By Students For Students. Activities started at 12.55 to 4.15pm. They started with face painting with kind compliments from Lela, the mother of Shyma. We had many witches, zombies, and Thai ghosts. They even got to decorate cupcakes and had a competition. Rajpal won the best cupcake decoration. Chandra won the best dress. They had a scary feast of brains, pumpkins, and fingernails all made from delicious food to look like these festive snacks. They enjoyed watching Casper the friendly ghost, taking part in a scavenger hunt, being part of a costume competition and performing a dance they worked very hard on. Everyone had a fantastic time and went home happy and delighted from the day’s festivities.
We did different activities for the students to comprehend the two-letter words like rolling the ball towards the correct goal. We labeled the words like on, it, am, and ug through the curved shaped paper pasted on the floor. Then we had the toilet paper rolls with balls on the top and labeled them with these words on, it, am, and ug. They carried it slowly to the correct place without dropping the ball off. We also had another activity with the caps that we labeled with the same two-letter words with magnets that were placed on its bottom. Then they have to paste it on the board having the same letters written on it. Next, we started to read gradually these two-letter words. Though they can’t easily understand the concept but little by little we are helping them to meet the goals.
Recognizing numbers is not an easy task to achieve. So for them to understand the lesson we conducted through different activities. We combined the head and tail of the fish with the correct numbers pasted on it. We also introduced simple addition by counting objects and dropping them in a box and counting the sum together.
Star Of The Week
Warin was the Star Of The Week for her great attitude towards writing and participating in class. She is always so alert and ready to answer questions. Warin changes the environment in the class when she is around. We are happy that Warin has progressed so much at Singapore Nursery and Preschool.
