The week ended with our mid term break. The kids have been making new friends and they seem to be getting along very well. You can see how happy they are when they meet each other in the morning. They enjoy playing with each other and they are so happy to be around the familiar faces of the teachers and the care givers. As mentioned that i will add a link to why we need to get the students to wear uniform. Without doubt there are many benefits to wearing school uniform. Its probably best to attach a link here to be convinced. Why school uniform is a must.
Arts – This time we made cotton balls ghosts, this activity helps them to develop their fine motor skills by pasting pieces of cotton on the ghost-shaped paper. Some of the kids were so funny as they started to play with the balls. Throwing at each other and making funny faces. The idea of our art classes was to let the kids be creative as much as possible and exercise on their fine motor skills. Children need to develop a positive sense of themselves in relation to their peers, family and community. As they gain a better understanding of themselves and learn to respect the uniqueness of others, they will begin to build positive relationships with others.
Science – They were taught about different parts of the trees like leaves, fruits, and flowers. They can easily identify and draw these parts very well. Children enquire, explore and discover the world. As such they are curious , active and competent. Preschool education involves arousing children curiosity and sense of wonder about the world around the them. It provides opportunities for children to learn social skills such as learning to work and play with others, building their confidence. They will also develop learning dispositions that remain with them throughout their lives. Children who are confident and eager to learn are ready for the next stage of learning and are more likely to do well in school.
Parent Teacher Conference
We had our Parent Teacher Conference on the 8th October. All parents from Primary attended this meeting and some parents from Nursery. Its clearly good for the parents from
nursery to attend these type of meetings and hear about the rigors of Primary education. And how serious they need to stay focus on their child’s education and know what are the expectation in Primary. Clearly the meeting was a huge success. We discussed about the students attendance, illnesses and when they should avoid school and the overall progress of the students and the school.
It should be noted that the parents did not raise any serious issues during this meeting. We always encourage parents to attend our PTC. Here at this meeting we will share and update parent of the academic progress of the school in general. Also to hear from them how this can be a better place for their child to pursue their academic excellence. As stake holders in their child’s progress, all PTC’s are a must for all parents. Open meetings like this will make this a better place for students.
I would like to register my appreciation for all the parents attending this meeting. Also at this meeting we share all incidents that happen at the school. This way parents will know what happens around your children and how our policies are formulated with these incidents. As with the 2 other PTCs, we share so that they can be better informed.
Students had the opportunity this week to learn how to cook a popular and delicious Thai dish, Som Tam. They got to be chef for an hour and identified all the ingredients that are required to make Som Tam. Students took this opportunity to make their own plate of Som Tam. By placing all the ingredients in a คลิก (kruk) they pounded the ingredients and mixed them together. They got to taste and serve themselves and enjoy the delightful dish that they prepared.
