English Upper
Students finished their creative poetry unit and finalized their poetry books. They ended the unit writing an I am poem, a simile poem and a metaphor poem. They then designed a booklet and put all their poems together to create their own book of poems. Students got to share them with the class and there was great improvement.
English Lower
The students finished their creative poetry unit and finished writing their own poems. They worked on their I am open and found that they enjoyed this poem the most. The students in Lower Primary were able to really dig deep and talk about themselves. They presented the poems and created a book of poems.
Singapore Mathematics (Upper)
The students started a new lesson called percentages. They figured out that percentages is the same as fractions and decimals. They also learned how to convert fractions to decimals, fractions to a percentage, decimals to a percentage, and vice versa. Students were tasked to solve problems every day with different levels. Where in, their activities were getting harder every day. We will do these kinds of practices for the whole of next week too..
Singapore Mathematics (Lower)
Students started knowing the three types of fractions, which are, proper fraction, improper fraction, and the mixed number. Students also learned how to transform an improper fraction to a mixed number. They have to do lots of activities about this and for them to perfectly know how to do it and apply it to their next lesson. We will continue this kind of practice next week and to tackle how to convert mixed numbers to improper fractions.
Science (Upper)
This week, we did a pop quiz about the student’s learning last week. They were asked to recite the parts of a bulb and recognizing the symbols in a circuit drawn on the board. This is to see if they listened and comprehended last weeks lesson and also, to connect this topic to their new lesson which is the series and parallel circuit. They were challenged to give the difference between the series and the parallel circuit by observing a circuit diagram of each on the board and did more activities such as word search and circuit diagram worksheets.
Science (Lower)
Students proved that they already know the basic parts of our digestive system. They can now perfectly discussed and demonstrate how the food will become the nutrients of our body. They also did worksheets related to the parts and functions of the digestive system. We started also to discuss the different parts of the skeletal system and its functions. We will continue to learn about it next week.
Handwriting
The children practiced writing their letters properly. They worked to make their letters look nice. They used the panagram “the quick onyx goblin jumps over the lazy dwarf”. The students are becoming more aware of their writing and are putting more into their presentation of their school works.
Mathematics Award
This week, students strived hard just to get this award. Everyone did their best but only one got the award. The award went to ShyamaRiveros, an upper primary student who got almost perfect scores in every activity they did and gained 90.6 %, the highest percentage in their activities this week. She is so passionate about doing her math activities and eager to finish everything on time.
Star of the Week
The Star of the Week went again to Kalavati Riveros. Kalavati is now picking up her pace and working hard. She is now more helpful toward her classmates. Thats a sure welcome improvement.
