The end of this week marks the beginning of the second mid term break. All students were met on a one to one except for 1 student, to discuss the homework for the holidays. Students have also been advised to avoid crowded places during this break and to stay safe. We celebrated our Valentine Day with speeches, games, singing and making cards during the art lessons. The students and all of us had great fun. This is another project under our “For Students By Students”. Parents are kindly reminded to block off their calendar for the 25th February at 9am for our Parent Teacher Conference. This will be our 2nd and final conference for this school year. If you have any issues that you will like to discuss, please forward to us earlier so that we can include them in the agenda. Please email them by the 20th February so that we can accord you sufficient time during the meeting.
Students had their final preparation for their Valentine’s day celebration. They had to show that they knew the song very well with just the instrumental music in the background with no help from the lyrics. At first, they missed a few parts or ended up on the wrong part, but they practiced well enough that they all did a great job.
Lower had a test run of handwriting class to see if it would be useful and beneficial for them. They all practiced writing neatly and nicely the letter A, B, and C as well as words that used them. They had to practice writing the words in a straight line and all the same size. Some of them had to practice over and over again but by the end, they all had very nice legible writing. The class was a great success and students wanted to keep practicing and also to learn write in cursive.
This week students worked on creating three more types of poems: cinquain, alliteration, and a triplet poem. They thought these were going to be difficult but they have found it to be getting easier. They loved working on their alliteration poem as they were able to make fun tongue twisters such as “Universal Unicorns usually unify in universities.” When we come back from break they will continue learning a few more different poems.
This week students worked on creating three more types of poems: a triplet, cinquain and a sensory poem. The cinquain was something they were easily able to do. The triplet poem was a little more difficult but with a lot of help, they were able to create their poems. They had a lot of fun with their sensory poems since they were able to walk around the school and identify things they see, smell, feel, hear and taste. They all made very unique poems with lots of variety.
We look forward to parents active participation in our PTC. We use our PTC to remain connected with parents as well as an opportunity to improve and make Singapore Genius School Krabi a school of choice here in Krabi.
