This week in nursery update saw many kids feeling unwell. We hope the kids are feeling much better and we look forward to see them on Monday. However its best to keep your child at home if your child still has a fever and running nose.
Singapore Nursery and Preschool has been working progressively towards the development of social and emotional skills in a reiterative process. Teachers need to carefully plan for the acquisition of these skills through children’s everyday experiences and play in the pre-school setting and make use of the teachable moments that occur in these daily experiences to teach children to regulate and manage their feelings, thoughts and behaviours.

We used our Music lesson to prepare for Kalavati’s birthday celebration on Friday. This worked well for Nursery kids as they witness the older kids preforming. We practiced a duet song, a dance presentation, and a birthday song that was accompanied by ukulele that was played by one of our students. A simple presentation makes a happy celebration. It was a beautiful theme for that day for her to remember. Parents of Kalavati also attended the birthday. The kids were treated to some special food to celebrate. The school sends Kalavati birthday wishes and many more birthdays to celebrate.
Attached in this Bulletin is our menu for the month of September. Khun June has learned some new recipes for our morning and afternoon breaks. So expect a healthier menu for our growing kids.
The kids had their first taste of Zumba stretch and exercise lessons. They seemed bewilded and soon got a hang of what we were doing. They did this lesson with the Primary kids and so it was so much fun.
English – With the given letters a, b, c, and d, students were challenged to participate in different activities that also enhanced their gross and fine motor skills. They also have been learning different sounds from the environment such as animals and transportations.
Math –Development of numeracy concepts and skills involves helping children know and use the concepts and skills in ways that relationships and connections are formed and then apply them meaningfully in their daily experiences. Counting objects 1-5 with songs helps to familiarize themselves with numbers easily. Encouraging them into different activities will also practice them to work in a team.
In Thai class the kids enjoyed so much as they like Teacher Xin fun filled classes. Students learn and understand Thai consonants (ก-ข). Students were given opportunities to try and speak and write Thai consonants and to read with teacher.

Genius Chess and Star of The Week
Our new Chess Champion of the Week was Chandra Reverios. He is really making drastic improvements and this is the second time that he has won the weekly chess championship. Now the amazing news was that Subal, our new student from Nursery had a tasked this week to fix up a chess board. Everybody was so amazed that he was able to set up the chess board. We believe that Subal will be a good player very soon as fixing a game is the first step to playing chess.
The Star of the Week went to Shyama Reviros. Shyama is really working so hard and she is setting the tone of the school in terms of discipline and hard work. She is completing all her assignments before time and meeting the teachers expectations. We hope Sharma will inspire all other students with her hard work.
