Seeing the smile of the kids everyday and the new stuff that they are learning brings a broad smile to the faces of the parents. The school takes every effort to make sure that the makers for the while board are chemical free and do not smell toxic. Even our paint that they use for the art class is of a high grade quality type and they are eco friendly. Also for the paint they also do not emit any small.
Every day we used a “Mystery Box” to practicing using our other senses to figure out the mystery object inside. We used descriptive words for the different objects (soft, hard, squishy, rough, smooth). The children are really happy and excited that they have a chance to put their hand inside the box and there was so much excitement when we do this class. The children seem to getting along well with the other students. They can remember the names of all their classmates.
For science, we learned “sink” and “float” and observed different objects that sink or float. The children practiced guessing which object they thought would sink and which would float, and tested it in water. Class time is so fun for them especially when it come to experiments. They love to guess and when they guess right, they are so happy.
In Thai Nursery class the teacher starts by playing a Thai song with the kids. Then we practice speaking Thai consonants, which we use in a game by matching the letter to a picture. The children practice observation and speaking by guessing what the teacher placed in the “Mystery Box”. The children have to talk about the object and use other senses to figure out what the object is.
In Chinese Nursery class the teacher starts by paying a Chinese song, then the teacher speaks chinese words and has the children repeat, showing pictures for the children to learn vocabulary. We make red packets and color a Chinese greetings sheet.
Next week we will practice counting numbers 11-20, and being able to recognize them quickly. We will practice our alphabet and letter sounds, and the older kids will practice reading more 3 letter words using phonics. We will continue learning about float/sink by making boats and seeing if they will float. That will bring a huge smile on the faces of the children.
