This week went as fast as it came. The students in Primary were busy working on the Christmas project in all their free time. The students had many ideas and all their ideas work and so we implement them. So Parent please look forward this fun filled Christmas Celebration on the 13th December 2019. This is another project so famously promoted by Singapore Genius School Krabi as “By Students For Students”. Parent do take note. Parents arrival time is between 2.30 to 2.45pm. Do bring a pot luck when you arrive. No Pork please. Also by next Monday please do have a gift for your child to bring to school. We will have a gift exchange and also do note that we have set a price limit between 100 to 120 Bahts for the gift exchange event. This way every child will have a gift when they are going home.
Upper Primary took advantage of their English lessons to catch up with current affairs and the problems around the world. We covered the trouble brewing in Hong Kong and Chile. They identified and discussed the similarities. It all started with a small issue and got blown out of proportions. A small issue acted as catalyst, with last straw that broke the camel’s back. We also did picked up some articles from BBC news. We had articles on Idiot Savant and the man with the 7 minute memory. The idea was to get the students interested in world affairs. I would say that it was a resounding success for the last 10 days, we managed to achieved our objectives.
For Lower Primary we also did some articles available on BBC. They did 4 articles from BBC. and the other times we did reading. We practiced 1 page reading and rotating one student after another. Within a few days, I could see that there were significant improvements overall. With this, the kids did show better improvement when they were made to read aloud. I will recommend that these reading classes be encouraged and promoted.
Computer
Our lesson covered Excel Sheets. Now the students are able to create perfect Excel sheets. With this new acquired knowledge, they will be able build great charts. With the Excel chart, they will be able to unlock the potential of their data, by using formulas across a grid of cells. Soon they will be able identify trends and be ahead of the curve. For working example, the students were tasked to finalize their calendar for 2020. They chose colors of cells they liked and choose font style they preferred to make their calendar more appealing. They applied their learnings in excel to create these calendars.
Chess
This week was really eventful. Our uncrowned Chess Champion Rajpal was tasked to take on our new teacher. Rajpal was able to check mate him under a minute. It was astonishing to say the least. Unfortunately for Rajpal, Gerrit decided to take on Rajpal just before the chess award ceremony, and snached the title away. Definitely the quality of chess here at Singapore Genius School Krabiis a force to reckon with. 3 Cheers to Singapore Genius School Krabi.
