This week was really fun. They students have started to prepare their next activity which is Christmas celebrations. They use their lunch breaks to have meetings. Their music lessons to practice the Christmas carols and songs and they have been working hard on performances. And for the Arts and Craft lesson to do props for the Christmas party. We used the school Assembly to hear their plans for Christmas. This is another project “By Students For Students”. At this meeting, we listen to their plans and help make their thoughts crystal clear how this celebration was to happen. This is their project. Projects like these help them become future leaders. They plan, execute and evaluate. They have to do budgeting and make sure that the project is done with perfection.
Students continued to do worksheets related to the multiplication of fractions. Others worked on the worksheets that they did not manage to finish last week, and others who already finish their worksheets and after marking had to attempt to work on the incorrect answers. We will continue this next week for them to master the multiplying of fractions. They also did 15 pages of their workbooks this week.
This week, we started on a new lesson, which is multiplication and began the class by reciting 1 up to 7 times tables every day. They also practiced the skip counting and addition methods as options in solving multiplication problems. We also had drills for them to practice and to master the process of multiplication. Next week, we will start the mental math for them to solve problems fast and accurately.
For sports this week, the students had Zumba and Badminton. The students are beginning to enjoy and look forward to their Zumba lessons. They also help the instructor to select songs for this lesson. For badminton, we went to PK Badminton Court. Its a lovely court constructed to international standards. Overall you can see that the students have improved. They are able to keep the ball longer in the air. Some of the students are even planning to get their own rackets and come at their own time to enjoy this game. Overall, the school has achieved by introducing and arousing the interest of the students to do a sport that the students enjoy.
Star of the Week and Chess Champion
Kalavati has managed to hold on tight to her title as the Chess Champion Of The Week. Straight for 2 weeks, quite an achievement. She had 2 straight chess games with Rajpal and it was a hard fought battle. The school is proud that overall there has been some improvement and we will pursue this sport aggressively. All students have already set up an account at Chess.com. We encourage parent to allow them to excess this site when ever they are free. Its a safe site. We want make state Champions!
For 2 weeks we did not award a Star Of The Week to any student. The spell was broken by Shayma. Shyama has shown leadership skills and has been a great motivator to the other kids. Shayma has also progressed in all her academic subjects. The other students look up to her as an model student. Well done Shayma.
