This week students finished their information unit by writing a news article and completing their unit test. They learned how to order the events in their story, add connective words, and summarize their story in an article. They studied for their test and most students did really well! Younger students focused on the “ng” and “th” sound and practiced spelling and reading words with these sounds. They did very well spelling the words and need to work on practicing blending to help them read words. They played fun activities to encourage them to spot the sounds they heard.
This week in Thai for lower class, we reviewed the Thai Alphabets by writing and reading. Practice reading Thai characters as well as different and harder words fluently. Students learnt the vowels in Thai and how to construct a word using both alphabets and vowels. The older kids learnt how to complete a Thai sentence by filling in the blanks, how to use describing words correctly and also had a spelling test.
For Chinese class, we started off with a Chinese listening test provided by a Chinese proficiency institute and interpreting it. Ten Chinese everyday verbs were also taught throughout the week. Students had to fill in the blanks activities, Pinyin alphabet writing and selecting the correct words to match the pictures exercises and translation work for the taught verbs.
This week in ICT class, we learnt about using Google Class Room. This is a website that every school needs for online education during a Covid situation. Students learnt how to access Google Class Room and how to use it. The students will be able to receive set homework and send the completed homework back, this is a very productive and convenient way.
Art & Craft
For Art & Crafts class, we made Valentine’s Day cards. Coloured paper cut into a hearts shaped and designed and decorated the cards by drawing, painting and wrote messages to loved ones. It was a lovely class!
In Handwriting class, Students practiced handwriting in both Thai and English by tracing with and without dotted lines. Students will be able to develop their handwriting skills and become more familiarized with writing.
The students were able draw an analog clock and tell the time. They were able to recognize the short and the long hands. We issued them a Workbook on clock and they were able answer most of the work sheets. When kids learn about time, they discover a foundational skill that will follow them into adulthood.
