The first week of school has been a breeze. The kids are so happy to meet their friends and be back to the school environment. They miss the school environment after being away for so long. They missed the routines and their teachers. The various activities, different lessons and changing of class rooms seems so fun for them. The lock down has also created it own problems. This is best described in an article from BBC and here is the link to the interesting article.
The Thai government has recently announced that 4th and 7th of September will be holidays in lieu of the April holidays (Songkran) which were missed. The learner was able to determine which fraction is greater and smaller. Next we touched a new topic on addition and subtracting fractions of different denominators by substituting a common denominator to perform theoperation. It was interesting how they handled the whole sequence in the process.
Upper Singapore Math
The learners were able to identify the ratio of a given data, they were able to easily solve it by identifying the total equal parts and considering its correct value. The learners found it easy to solveproportions but needed to practice more as they find it difficult when the given value does not have the same units (cm, m, ml, l). Interestingly solving for the area appeared to be very easy for them but they need to work on solving for the shaded part inside the same figure.
