Halloween at Singapore Genius School Krabi

November 11, 2019indiEnglish Program, Krabi International School, krabi primary school, Singapore Genius Nursery, Singapore Genius School, Singapore Genius School Krabi
Author: Shyama Riveros.  Shyama is a student at Singapore Genius School Krabi. She was task to be the Chairwoman to plan and organize the  Halloween Celebration. This is another excellent project “By Students For Students”. Do enjoy reading.
At my school, I got assigned to help organize the Halloween celebrations. In the beginning, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed because there was too much to do in so little time. But then with everyone’s help, everything started falling into its place. For the decorations, we printed lots of scary skulls which we later hung around the school. With old rags, we made scary ghost-like creatures, we made banners out of printed heads, legs, knives, and arms. For our art class, we painted eyeballs out of styrofoam balls and we hung them for an eerie effect. We also printed out lots of bats and spiders and we stuck them everywhere.

For our costumes, we all had really good costumes. I was an evil black cat with spiky teeth, Chandra was Charon,he takes the dead to hell, Kalavati was a very scary zombie with infected wounds and cuts all around her face, Subal was the devil with horns and a spear, preschool and nursery krabiInju and Gerrit were both very scary Thai ghosts with traditional Thai pants and white T-shirts. They both got scary cuts on their faces too.  Sona was also a ghost with bruises all over her face and a pretty dress, Lucy was a witch with beautiful designs on her face and evil eyebrows, Focus was a very funny and cute wizard with very angry and evil eyebrows. He also had a wizard beard that made him look very mysterious, Katya was a stylish ghost with loose and shiny clothes with a very big and realistic cut on her face; she and Kalavati were zombie sisters. Mr. Indi was a very scary beaten up principal with a very big wound in his cheek. Teacher Jp had a very big and painful open cut on his forehead.
For our schedule, Mr. Indi very generously gave us half the day off to celebrate Halloween. His only request was that we have a proper schedule( which we did). We started to celebrate Halloween at noon and we finished at 4:15. Our schedule was as follows: at 12 we took around half an hour to get our costumes and our makeup done, then after that we decorated delicious black muffins into cupcakes ( done by Mrs. June) we used marshmallows, gummy worms, gummy strings, gummy bears, gummy dinosaurs, cookies, wafer sticks, white pearls, Halloween sprinkles, sugar eyes and whipping cream. Later on, we had a contest for the best cupcake and Inju won.
After that, we had lunch which was a very scary black spaghetti and tomato sauce that resembled brains. Our lunch was for 1 hour and we all decided that if we ate fast then we could relax and watch a Halloween movie. Teacher Kristina searched for a Halloween movie and we all decided on watching Casper the Friendly Ghost. In the end, we all really loved the movie and enjoyed it very much. The movie was a bit longer than the time we had planned so we all decided that if we did everything faster then we could finish the movie.
After the movie, we had our costume competition. We all walked in a big circle and showed off our awesome costumes. The judges ( which were Mr. Indi, Teacher Jp, and Teacher Kristina ) decided that the winner for the best character performance was Kalavati and the winner for the best costume would be Chandra. After that, we did our Halloween dance choreography ( made by teacher Kristina) with the song ‘This is Halloween’ from the movie ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’.

After that, we did our treasure hunt ( made by Teacher Jp and Chandra). The players were divided into 3 groups. The groups were: Inju, Katya and Subal. Buddh, Lucy, and Sona. Kalavati, Gerrit and Focus. I did not participate because I also helped Teacher Jp and Chandra do the treasure hunt. The treasure hunt was as follows: Teacher jp and Chandra printed out puzzles of scary pictures and the first team that finished the puzzle would go to station 1 ( there were 4 stations in total) and I would give them a little paper with a riddle on it. They had to find out the answer to the riddle and then find the answer. If the riddle was about a clock then they had to find a picture of a clock hidden in station 1. Behind the picture of the clock, there was glued the next riddle for the next station. Teacher Jp and Chandra made sure that none of the teams would bump into each other the winners of the treasure hunt were the team of Inju, Katya and Subal. They were very generous and they shared with everyone else their prize. After our amazing treasure hunt, we finished watching the movie of Casper the friendly ghost. After that, it was home time. I think it is safe to say that we all had a really fun and awesome day.
