Many of the messages received on the Line app are positive and complimentary of the effort our staff have made to develop and deliver Online Learning. Many parents are eager for their children to return to online lessons since schools have been closed. We are confident that with practice and adjustments, they will be able to engage and successfully continue their education through the online model. Singapore Genius School has reduced the school fees to 2500 Baht per month for the month of April to reflect the hardships faced by parents. We hope to continue with these super low fees if we can have more students. We hope to help other students from other schools to move forward during this lockdown. Students from other schools are welcome to sign up for this low priced Online Learning.
Students learned how to identify the structures of a non fiction text. They read a non fictional article and answered questions identifying which structures were used. All the students have settle in with Teacher Kristina as they were her class students before the school closed. It was easier as they know each other well.
Students learned about prefixes and suffixes and how to use them to help them determine the definition of new words. They learned how to pronounce the different vowel sounds to help them become more fluent when reading.
We continued to study the formulas in percentages. We also reviewed how to convert fractions, decimals, and ratio into a percentage and vice versa. They learned how to derive the formulas in percentage and solved lots of examples and homework. Next week we will discuss the last formula of percentage, which is the formula of finding the base.
We continued to learn about fractions. The students reviewed how to identify fractions in a given model and a number line. We also discussed how to compare fractions, wherein they learned how to identify which fraction is greater or lesser. Next week we will continue to discuss fractions, we will concentrate on discussing equivalent fractions.
Our topic of discussion was energy. We started our week in reviewing about electricity and its uses or functions in our daily living. They also learned about kinetic and potential energy. They determine situations as kinetic or potential energy as their summative assessment for this lesson.
We discussed the human muscular system. They learned the parts of a muscle and how is this connected to our bones. They also learned how muscles moved, they understand that if a muscle relaxed, then other muscles will automatically contract.
This week in Thai Primary class we learned about Thai conversation. In the class the Teacher Xin showed Thai consonants and taught them how to read and let them try to read and speak after this the teacher gave students a chance to practice speaking one by one with teacher and classmate
This week in Chinese class we learn about Chinese vocabulary, in the class Teacher Xin showed words and taught them how to read and tell them what is the meaning and let them try to recite words. After this the teacher taught Chinese conversation, students we tasked to have a conversation and let them try to speak with the teacher and also let them to speak with their classmate.
With practice and hard work we will be able to move forward with the students progressing. There are limitations with Online Learning but these are the best for these times. Online Learning cannot replace actual classroom learning. And everyone cannot wait to get back to their normal routine. We will update when normal schools will open as soon as we have information from the Education Department Krabi. Till then, Stay Safe, Stay At Home and be aware to maintain social distancing.
